The Rev. Edward B. Simmons was named Executive Director of Mountain T.O.P. in 2006 after the retirement of founder and past Executive Director, George Bass. Simmons holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, an MBA from the University of Houston, and received his pastoral training from Chandler School of Theology and Perkins School of Theology. He spent 15 years at Enron Corp. before entering the ministry in 1993. He is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church. He previously served several churches in the Texas Annual Conference as the Minister of Administration. Simmons had an 18 year affiliation with Mountain T.O.P as a camper prior to being appointed executive director. His call to full-time ministry in the United Methodist Church came while participating in a Mountain T.O.P. camp week. He has been married to his wife Glynn for over 30 years.

Julie came to Mountain T.O.P. in 2007 after serving in the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in Mississippi. At Mountain T.O.P., Julie is responsible for facilitating all programs within our various camps and ministries. She also is the person primarily responsible for coordinating the ministry’s growing community developments activities and forming the new South Cumberland Community Development Partnership. Julie started out as a mechanical engineer, but migrated back over to the world of missions, as passion that began for her at Mountain T.O.P. as a youth.

Alex joined Mountain T.O.P’s Support Staff in August of 2017 as the Program Manager of Recruitment and Public Awareness. His job is to form new relationships with prospective volunteers and maintain relationships with existing volunteers. He also manages the website and all other online media, writes the bi-monthly newsletter, and handles various local promotions. Alex is from Atlanta, Georgia and he attended the University of Georgia where he got a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing with a minor in Communications. Before joining Support Staff, Alex was on our summer staff for the past 4 years as both the Adults in Ministry Director and Youth Summer Ministry Director. While not at work, Alex is a big college football enthusiast and dabbles beard maintenance.
Rachael Osborn – Program Manager – Ministry Logistics
Rachael grew up in Indiana, and then attended Miami University of Ohio, where she double majored in Professional Writing and Sustainability and minored in Community-Based Leadership. Rachael came to the Mountain as a YSM camper for 6 years, worked on Summer Staff for 3 summers, then served as the Ministry Intern/JAM Director in the summer of 2016. From August 2016 – August 2017 Rachael served as an Americorp VISTA in the role of Communication and Assessment Coordinator. Her work centered around measuring impact and telling Mountain T.O.P.’s story utilizing the different types of data that MTOP collects. She is the main contact for groups as they are preparing for their time on the Mountain, and coordinates with each group from the start of the application processes through a post-event follow-up. Additionally, Rachael is continuing her work with ministry assessment.
Rachael loves traveling, enjoys coffee and tea equally (feel free to bring her a cup of either the next time you’re at camp), and is always willing to go on a road trip.
Chad Pasinger – Program Manager of Resource Management
This is Chad Pasinger. He is our Program Manager of Resource Management. Chad was born in Nashville, Tennessee and recently graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Communications (Go Mocs!). He’s been on Mountain TOP Summer Staff three separate times. Chad enjoys taking photos and videos and playing his guitar. He’s excited about joining the staff and community up here on a full-time basis and look forward to the year ahead!
Cody Jorstad joined the Mountain T.O.P. support staff in May of 2017 as Program Manager – Service Area & Ministry Support. Cody’s main responsibilities will be in the planning and facilitation of projects for Fall & Spring programs, being a resource and support for summer staff Field Managers, and serving as a member of the Program Team for all ministry activities throughout the year. Cody first came to Mountain T.O.P. as a camper in 2009 and has served the past three years as a member of the summer staff, most recently as the AIM Director. Cody will graduate in May from Georgia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. Outside of camp, Cody enjoys playing golf, supporting Atlanta sports teams and doing anything outdoors.
Melonie Dalson joined Mountain T.O.P. in October 2017 to fill the newly created Development Manager position. Her responsibilities include oversight of agency fundraising planning and implementation, donor cultivation and support, and public relation activities. Melonie originates from New England where she earned her B.A. in Psychology at Keene State College and began her path in the non-profit sector. Her servant’s heart has led her career working with homeless individuals and families, inner-city youth, and an 8 year tenure as Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland. Melonie attends Outreach Baptist Church, is a grandmother of two, and a hobby farmer with chickens and donkeys.
Buddy Boyce – Development Manager
Nathan “Buddy” Boyce serves as Development Resources Manager for Mountain T.O.P. His main focus is contacting individuals and companies for potential in-kind contributions. Buddy was a member of Blakemore UMC (Nashhville, TN) and had the opportunity to be a part of the first Mountain T.O.P. staff in 1975. He served on the field staff for 2 years and was camp director for an additional 2 years. Buddy graduated from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) with a Marketing degree. He is an avid Vols fan and currently lives in Nashville.
