Mountain T.O.P is a service ministry operating in the Appalachian Mountains. Our goal is to eliminate substandard housing by addressing the physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of the people of the Cumberland Plateau. To achieve this goal we offer a variety of mission-based programs for youth and adults.
Youth Summer Ministry (YSM): During a week-long mission experience, junior and high school students complete home repair projects or serve as mentors in Day Camp. We mix up the groups in the camp community to create Youth Renewal Groups (YRGs) so participants have the opportunity to further broaden their horizons by meeting others from across the country. Our daily schedule is built around times of work and rest with four times to intentionally pause and turn our attention to the Lord. Through individual devotional time, small group discussions, and corporate worships, participants have the opportunity to connect the “what” and “why of service. YSM is offered for 7 weeks during the summer.
Service Project: Service Projects could include building porches, wheelchair ramps, sheds, painting, and yard work. This work represents a physical sense of hope as we improve the safety and health of a family’s home. As we focus on alleviating substandard housing, we can make small contributions to a family’s well-being by providing safe entries and exits, preserving resources, and creating healthier environments.
Day Camp: Day Camp is a place to spread hope. It is an environment where children ages 6-11 years-old come to be loved and challenged in a safe, positive community. Youth and adults spend a week with Grundy County children participating in activities that will allow them to explore a Bible story and character trait each day. Participants will have the opportunity to help children learn about the environment, community service, health, and local entrepreneurship.
Senior High Camp (SHC): New in 2019, a program just for senior high students! SHC is a smaller capacity program that allows groups to stay together for their service work. With all the worship components of Mountain T.O.P.’s other programs, participants in SHC will have the opportunity to do larger scale home repair projects—based on the group’s skill level—and one of three specialized day camp programs.
- Quest: Quest is an adventure style camp for teenagers who live in Grundy County. Mountain T.O.P’s goal is to provide an experience where youth are able to explore character building through challenging events such as rock climbing and ropes course elements.
- Summer Plus: Summer Plus provides local teenagers an opportunity to have fun in a Christian environment while learning or experiencing something new. The idea of being co-creators with Christ stands behind what happens at Summer Plus.
- Kaleidoscope: Kaleidoscope is a visual and performing arts camp for children with intellectual disabilities. Participants lead or assist in workshops of fine arts specialties, including: painting, drawing, dance, music and drama.
