Eric and 2006 Mountain T.O.P. Staff. Weeping was a big thing that year.

Why I’m a Member of the Builders Club

Hi. My name’s Eric and I’m a member of the Builders Club. Here’s why:

I’ve been a 4-time YSM camper, an adult camper, a 3-time Summer Staffer, an AIM volunteer, a Spring Intern, a Board Member, and the Mountain T.O.P. Board Chair. Clearly, I have had a hard time saying no to the ministry that I love.

In all of this time, I realize I’ve been changed. And I bet I’m not the only one.

My time on Mountain T.O.P. summer staff gave me a new appreciation for a lot of things. Stress, organization, leadership – I coped with each of these things with varying degrees of success but each of them forced me to grow and mature, all with a reliance on God and in that God-focusing place called camp. The daytime hours pushed me to my limits and beyond, and the evening programs and worship brought me back to my center.

In this way, I’ve taken these skills with me throughout my life. I label, folder, code and pile things with great care, I’m honest because I know my feedback will be appreciated, and I run a meeting better than many of my bosses. While I worked at Mountain T.O.P., I soaked everything in for the experience of doing it. Looking back on it, I see that it made me who I am today.

I’m a member of the Builders Club because Mountain T.O.P. taught me how to be a professional, and a Christian, at the same time.

Can anyone out there relate?

Builder’s Club Campaign 2014

***We will add the “Wow-ers” posted to social media at the bottom of this post as they happen today!***

The Builders Club Campaign is a celebration of Mountain T.O.P. and an invitation to be closer to its ministries. By introducing “12 Wow-ers in 12 Hours,” we hope to make you smile, remind you of meaningful experiences, and encourage you to join the Mountain T.O.P. Builders Club.

If you didn’t know, the Builders Club is Mountain T.O.P.’s one-year-old monthly giving group. It’s comprised of former staff, campers, longtime supporters, friends and family all with the singular purpose of empowering the ministry through financial giving. Many contributors realize the huge impact Mountain T.O.P. has made on their lives and want to give back. Others see what it has done for others.

The Campaign is held on the day before summer staff closing and we do that with purpose. Being on summer staff is a life-altering experience for those to who take it on and just as they say goodbye after 10 weeks of leading youth from across the country, we build on their enthusiasm to engage with anyone who thinks of Mountain T.O.P. as a second home. In other words, we celebrate Mountain T.O.P. by celebrating the people who make Mountain T.O.P. what it is – most likely you.

We know there are many ways to experience God but for those who have been to Mountain T.O.P., we know it’s a little bit easier out here.

This is a big day and we hope you’ll stick around to have some fun! Thanks for reading about the Builders Club and enjoy the day!
