2024 Fall Adults in Ministry recap
This October, we welcomed 114 participants to serve with us through Adults in Ministry. 78 of those volunteers served through Major Home Repair, and 36 of those participants hosted the Fall Festival. Read on to hear the testimonies of our volunteers and some snapshots of their work!
Mountain T.O.P. worked with 5 families this fall.
Our volunteers completed two new roofs and three flooring projects. These life-changing repairs will have a significant impact on the families.
The reality is that the cornerstone of community health, well-being, and economic strength lies in having access to stable, affordable, accessible, healthy housing. The health of a person’s home not only affects the individuals who live there but their families and communities, as a whole. Healthy homes lead to healthy families, which lead to healthy communities.
A special highlight this fall was hosting Housing Hub for a weekly presentation.
Housing Hub is one of Grundy County’s newest nonprofits dedicated to affordable housing, homeowner education, and workforce development. Each Friday night, they shared about their history (which includes Mountain T.O.P.), their mission, and an update on the Blessing House. While Mountain T.O.P. continues to focus on home repair, Housing Hub will focus on building new affordable homes. With two housing-focused organizations on the South Cumberland Plateau, we can double our impact and tackle different aspects of the housing continuum!
A major event in October is our Fall Festival!
What started as a shoe distribution event in 2012 has evolved into an incredible community-wide festival. Mountain T.O.P. gives away shoes, coats, winter accessories, and books to folks of all ages. We offer hayrides, games for children, live music, and a free lunch. Several local community organizations have booths to share about their programs and services.
