Local Volunteering
We always have projects—both home repair projects and in-camp facility projects that need to be completed and we would love your help!
A typical volunteer day runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; however, we are flexible in our scheduling. Please meet us at the Field Office at Camp Cumberland Pines. When you arrive, all participant paperwork is collected and a short orientation to Mountain T.O.P. is provided. From there, our project managers provide details about projects, driving directions if you are leaving camp, and all tools/materials.
To plan projects effectively, coordinate with homeowners, and ensure a successful service experience, we require that all requests for volunteering be made at least 3 days in advance.
Examples of Projects
Home Repair: Our projects range from small-scale construction to major renovations. We do everything from building ramps, stairs, and porches to installing new siding, flooring, and roofs. We also do painting projects.
In-Camp Facilities: Keeping our facilities well-maintained and looking nice is important to us. Volunteers can assist with painting and small-scale repairs, depending on the skill-level of the group and current needs.
When matching projects and volunteers, we try to strike a balance between the skill level of our volunteers and our most urgent needs.
What We Provide
All materials, tools, and PPE
Staff support: depending on the size of your group, there may not be a staff person on-site with you the entire day; however, a staff person will make multiple site visits.
Optional: Lunch for $10 per person. A cooler lunch contains lunch meat or chicken salad, sandwich fixings, peanut butter and jelly packets, celery and carrot sticks, chips, and cookies. Or, volunteers can bring their own lunch.
